Thursday 28th September to Sunday 1st October 2006: ARGENTINA, Salta

Our reason for visiting Salta was its close proximity to Chile. We arrived after a twelve hour bus ride and booked the next available tickets to Chile on sunday which left us with three days to enjoy our last stop in Argentina.

We didn´t visit any of the nearby salt flats or cactus islands as we had planned to see similar sights in Bolivia, therefore our three days were spent relaxing in this small city, enjoying our last Argentine cuisine and buying some warm clothes in preparation for the next part of our travels.

Whilst in Salta we were able to meet up with a lovely English couple we had met in the hostel we stayed in Buenos Aires. Therefore our last night in Argentina was not such a sad one (we were really down to be leaving this wonderful country) as it was spent in the company of friends; enjoying the marvellous Argentine steaks, wines and Champagne!
