Saturday 7th October 2006: BOLIVIAN SALT FLATS TOUR: Colchani Salt Processing Plant

After the train cemetery we drove about 20km north of Uyuni to the small village of Colchani to visit the salt processing factory. The salt is trucked in to Colchani from the Salt Flats (where it is first stacked in piles to partially dry) and here it is processed, i.e. dried and packaged for sale.
